DESCRIPTION: A wasp induced gall that creates round growths that are found in clusters and measuring 3 to 4mm in size. The surface has a series of conical growths that begin soft and green before becoming woody and reddish-brown. The overall gall is almost bud-like in appearance and is far from obvious. DISTRIBUTION: Having been found in Britain for the first time in 2008 the gall is slowly spreading northward. HABITAT: Occasional on the leaves of various Oaks.
